The league announced expansion franchises in Columbus, OH and Des Moines, IA, bringing the total team count to 8 and adding a new South Division for the 2027–28 season.
The Mid America Basketball League is growing. Commissioner David Reeves announced today that expansion franchises have been awarded to Columbus, Ohio and Des Moines, Iowa, effective for the 2027–28 season. The additions will bring the league to eight teams and necessitate a realignment into four two-team divisions. 'This is a landmark moment for the MABL,' Reeves said. 'Columbus and Des Moines are passionate basketball markets and we can't wait to bring MABL basketball to their fans.' Ownership groups for both franchises will be announced in January.
